Getting Started

It has been over 20 years that I picked up my trusty Canon T3. I took plenty of pictures when my son was a senior in high school. His Senior pictures turned out better then we both expected since I had just started a few month before. I would shoot in JPG form , that is all I knew. Several years went by before I decided to pick the camera back up. My son was back home from the Military and asked for me to Officiate his second wedding. I did my research for NC , married them and spent a lot of time taking photos with my family.

I fell in love with both Officiating and Photography. As I officiated more weddings I realized that more people are opting for smaller, elopement style wedding. Friends and family are taking photos on their phones or a small point and click camera. At this time I decided to start out offering a thumb drive with JPG photos. When someone wants the thumb drive I tell them they get them all- the good, the bad, and the ugly. Lucky for me most would turn out good.

After a few month of doing that I learned about shooting in Raw and editing photos in Raw format. BIG GAME CHANGER! I now only shoot in Raw format. I still consider myself a beginner as I am constantly learning something new. I had started out not charging strictly so I could learn and give those families who usually don't do family photos due to not being able to afford them, I know charge a small fee up front for those people who set an appointment then do not show.
